As a matter of practice, the luxury resort photographer Antonio Cuellar always goes beyond the shot list given to him by his clients, adding in an additional “bonus” photo to blow them away. Once, while photographing an exterior for a Las Vegas hotel, he and his team rented a room in a nearby hotel—just to capture the perfect view.
“Things got interesting when the SWAT team showed up,” he remembers. “It turns out that showing up at a Vegas hotel with several Pelican military-grade cases with gear while requesting a ‘specific view’ is not a good look.” Lesson learned… but he still makes a point to go the extra mile for his clients, capturing views beyond what they’d imagined.
