From Hashtag Overload to Poor Engagement: 9 Social Media Fails Photographers Need to Avoid
Earlier this year, when we asked photo editors about some of their “pet peeves,” many of their responses related to annoying social media habits: sending too many DMs, tagging someone on every single post, and, perhaps worst of all, contacting someone on their personal social media accounts (you know, the ones meant just for family and friends).
While a few of these faux pas are obvious, many are surprisingly easy to make. Since I started at Feature Shoot, we’ve grown our Instagram account from 7,000 to 220,000 followers, but I can admit that I made plenty of mistakes along the way (I’m looking at you, hashtag overload). With that in mind, I reached out to some pros to help me create this no-nonsense guide to a cringe-free social media feed.
