8 Photography Awards With Deadlines This Week
Welcome to our weekly roundup of photography competitions closing this week, where we find opportunities for photographers–so you don’t have to. This week, a smartphone competition offers the chance to win $10,000, and a nature photography award boasts a prize pool worth €25,000. Meanwhile, a €2,000 grant promises to fund the creation of a new social documentary project, and a $15,000 fellowship will go to support the work of a professional photojournalist. Plus: two exhibition opportunities, the chance to be considered for a prominent photography publication, and a prize for filmmakers championing sustainability.
The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and The Guardian have teamed up to present this bursary, providing “£2,000 for the production of a photographic essay on an overseas social documentary issue.” Entries are free and open to everyone, with the deadline approaching on July 11th.
The National Press Photographers Foundation (NPPF) presents this $15,000 fellowship, named in honor of the photojournalist Michel du Cille. “The du Cille, a premier fellowship, established for a professional photojournalist, will honor and reflect the highest professional and personal standards of photojournalist Michel du Cille,” the NPPF says.
“The completed work should be a substantive, in-depth exploration of the recipient’s project that meets the highest standards of contemporary storytelling.” The fellowship is open to residents of the United States and is open for applications through June 11th.
Nature Photographer of the Year
The Nature Talks Photo Festival in the Netherlands presents the seventh edition of Nature Photographer of the Year, open internationally. “This year, the total prize money will amount to €25,000,” the team shares. That includes a cash prize of €3,000 for the overall winner and €500 for the category winners. The deadline for entries has been extended to July 10th.
