Further in, you’ll find a $6,000 prize for the top news photo of the year, a $6,700 prize for nature photography, and a €5,000 grant that includes a trip to the heart of the Ecuadorian jungle. Plus, the chance to have your photobook produced and published; artist residencies in California and New York; and exhibition opportunities in London, New York, Rome, Belfast, Berlin, and beyond.
The Vital Impacts Environmental Photography Grants
Co-founded by the National Geographic photographer Ami Vitale, Vital Impacts is a non-profit supporting conservation and humanitarian organizations working on behalf of wildlife, people, and habitats. Now, they’re supporting the next generation of environmental storytellers through two separate $20,000 grants.
Each grant will support a long-term documentary project covering an environmental story over the course of twelve months. “In addition to funding the Grant, Vital Impacts will be offering a mentorship program to the top 50 applicants for the Vital Impacts Environmental Grant,” the team shares. “Participants will take part in a series of 12 classes with leading environmental and photographic figures.” The submission deadline is February 7th.
