The W. Eugene Smith Grant is an annual grant given in recognition of photographers whose work follows in the compassionate photojournalistic and documentary tradition of W. Eugene Smith. “For 2022, the amount of the W. Eugene Smith Grant is $40,000,” The W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund says. “An additional $5,000 grant will be awarded as a Fellowship, and two finalists deemed worthy of special recognition will each be given a grant of $2,500.” The deadline for submissions is May 31st.
Yannis Behrakis International Photojournalism Award
Now in its fourth year, the Yannis Behrakis International Photojournalism Award will include a €15,000 cash prize, given in recognition of a full-length photojournalism or documentary work created after January 2018. The winning photographer will also have their work shown at an exhibition at Athens Photo World. Submissions close on April 10th.
“Nikon’s Small World is regarded as the leading forum for showcasing the beauty and complexity of life as seen through the light microscope,” the Small World team explains. “Each year, the top 20 prize-winners are exhibited at numerous museums and science centers throughout the United States and Canada. Many winning images have also been featured on the covers of prestigious scientific and industrial journals.” There are several cash prizes available, including $3,000 for the 1st Prize winner. The deadline is April 30th.
