January's best job openings, project grants, contests, and more
Welcome to Feature Shoot’s monthly opportunities roundup, where our editors share the best job openings, project grants, contests, and more with our readers. As we enter 2022, January’s collection includes a mix of high-profile international awards, career-launching funding opportunities, positions at top newspapers, and a few under-the-radar opportunities not to be missed.
The 2022 Nikon-NOOR Academy comprises tuition-free, intensive workshops in France, Hungary, and Poland. “Each workshop has 15 participants and consists of four all-day sessions directed by three NOOR authors,” the agency explains. “These authors will work closely with participants, sharing experiences, working on portfolios, guiding editing skills, and offering advice on creating impactful visual stories. Additionally, key industry figures will join the sessions to give inspiring lectures on new approaches and innovative practices relating to visual storytelling.” The deadline for applications is January 30th.
Now in its fourth year, the $1,000 me&EVE Grant by CENTER Santa Fe supports the work of a female-identified, non-binary, transgender, or gender non-conforming photographer, 40 years of age and over. The grant package includes $1,000 in financial support, mentorship, admission into Review Santa Fe and the Professional Development Workshop, a group exhibition at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, and more.
The juror this year is Sarah Leen, the Founder & Editor of The Visual Thinking Collective and Former Director of Photography at National Geographic. Applications close on February 27th.
The 2022 Alexia Professional Grants
The Alexia Grants are open for applications, with professional grant recipients to earn $20,000 in funding. “Professional grants enable professional photographers and visual journalists to produce substantial bodies of work that share The Alexia’s goals of promoting world peace and cultural understanding,” the faculty explains. “We value work that elevates understanding and hopefully incites change for the better.” They’re accepting submissions through February 15th.
