Job: Staff Photographer at The New York Times (New York, NY)
The New York Times is looking for a news photographer to join their team. “You will be assigned to a variety of stories connected to the biggest news and themes of the day, and you will also be expected to generate and pitch your own story ideas,” the team shares. “You will collaborate as a full journalistic partner with reporters, editors, and designers throughout the newsroom.” 8+ years of photojournalism experience is preferred.
The Head On Photo Awards are open through June 5th, with winners sharing a prize pool worth $70,000 in cash and prizes. Categories include Portrait, Landscape, and Student. Cash prizes include $15,000 for the 1st Place Portrait winner, $15,000 for the 1st Place Landscape winner, $500 for the 1st Place Student winner, and more. 100 Finalists will have their work exhibited as part of the Head On Photo Festival in Australia.
The Lucie Emerging Scholarships
The Lucie Foundation is offering four cash grants to support the work of established and emerging photographers: the $3,000 Fine Art Scholarship; the $1,500 Emerging Artist Scholarship, supported by Sony; the Photo Made: $1,000 Emerging Scholarship for fine art; and the Photo Taken: $1,000 Emerging Scholarship for documentary photography and photojournalism. The deadline is September 1st.
Presented to photographers, editors, curators, and publishers, The Lucie Photo Book Prize is open for an array of submissions, “from published to prototype to hand-made books.” The prize for the winner of the Traditional Prize is $3,000, with $2,000 going to the winner of the Independent Prize. The deadline for submissions is September 30th.
PhotoVogue has launched their first Global Open Call: The Next Great Fashion Image Makers. “We are looking for artists who express themselves with photography, video, or both, and everyone can apply—the only requirements are to be over 18 years old and have talent,” Vogue’s Alessia Glaviano and Francesca Marani explain.
“Not only will all the Vogues worldwide publish a portfolio of the best submissions (online and/or in print), but some artists will also be selected to collaborate for an editorial (online and/or print), and the most talented ones will be part of the main exhibition at the PhotoVogue Festival 2022 in Milan.” The deadline is June 25th, and it’s free to submit.
