40 New Opportunities and Open Calls for Photographers

This edition of Feature Shoot’s opportunities roundup kicks off with a grant of €50,000, going to one photographer to support a six-month field report, followed by a traveling exhibition and monograph publication. Meanwhile, an art prize offers €10,000 to one overall winner (plus exhibition opportunities in Venice, London, and beyond), and a wildlife photography award presents a prize package worth over $23,500–including the trip of a lifetime to the Galapagos Islands. Also, a heads-up for photo professionals: The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Sotheby’s are all hiring right now.
Wild Personalities Photo Contest by PetaPixel
PetaPixel presents this wildlife photography competition in partnership with Lindblad Expeditions and OM SYSTEM. “The Grand Prize winner will receive an adventure for two aboard Lindblad Expeditions’ brand new National Geographic Islander II (a $19,580 value),” Michael Bonocore, the Travel Editor at PetaPixel explains. “In addition, the Grand Prize winner will be able to photograph Galapagos’ captivating wildlife with their brand new OM-1 camera [body and lenses]. The total value of the grand prize is $23,679.97.” Submissions are due by October 14th, with one image submission allowed per entrant.
Now in its 17th edition, the Arte Laguna Prize for artists and designers will culminate in an exhibition of the finalists’ work at the Arsenale of Venice. Cash prizes include €10,000 for the overall winner among several other cash prizes for various categories, with special prizes including artist residencies and exhibition opportunities in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Applications are due by October 31st.
