For this edition of our massive opportunities roundup, we have a $20,000 portrait prize; a $30,000 fellowship; a project development grant of $5,000, plus a publication in a top national magazine; and a $14,000 grant that also includes a solo exhibition. Meanwhile, one company is awarding $10,000 to selected artists affected by the attacks on Ukraine, and another will award fellowships of $20,000 to creators of color based in the United States. Plus, photography job openings at world-class magazines and newspapers.
2022 CatchLight Global Fellowship
“Made possible in part through a partnership with MPB.com, the CatchLight Global Fellowship, accompanied by a $30,000 award, serves as an incubator — a place for innovative leaders in the visual storytelling field to receive financial support, unlock individual potential, and grow and leverage partnerships,” the team at CatchLight says.
Four Fellows will be chosen. Applications are open through July 17th, and it’s free to apply.

The Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography 2022
Presented by PHOTO IS:RAEL and the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Fund, the Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography is now in its seventh year. “The 20 finalists will be showcased in a group exhibition at the International Photography Festival in November 2022 in Tel-Aviv,” the PHOTO IS:RAEL team shares. “The award winner will be announced during the festival [and] will receive a $14,000 grant, composed of a personal grant of $2,500, curatorial guidance, and the production of a solo exhibition that will be part of the 2023 International Photography Festival.” The submission deadline is July 18th.
2022 Arnold Newman Prize For New Directions in Photographic Portraiture
Presented annually by the Arnold & Augusta Newman Foundation and Maine Media Workshops + College, this is a $20,000 prize. “The jury will select a Top Ten, from which the winner and three finalists will be chosen,” the Maine Media Workshops + College staff explains. “In addition to the winner, the three finalists are invited to participate in an exhibit at the Griffin Museum of Photography and receive a $250 stipend.” The exhibition takes place in October. The deadline for submissions is July 18th.
