21 Once-in-Lifetime Photography Tours to Book Right Now
Today’s Leading Photographers Are Hosting Some Incredible Tours. Here Are 21.
A few months ago, I read that photography tours were shaping up to be an emerging trend for 2023. It makes sense: with the pandemic approaching our rearview mirror, photographers are itching to get back on the road and expand their horizons. But what surprised me, once I started doing some digging, was the sheer diversity and breadth of tours offered this year:
Ed Kashi will guide photographers through the streets of Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, and a place that carries a history thousands of years old. Greg Girard will host a traveling workshop in Japan at the height of cherry blossom season, moving from Tokyo to Okinawa Island. Steve McCurry will show another group around one of his favorite cities: Rome.
Karine Aigner, who was recently named Wildlife Photographer of the Year by London’s Natural History Museum, will bring a small group to photograph Harpy Eagles in the Brazilian rainforest. Charly Savely, meanwhile, will travel to South Africa, where workshop participants will have the chance to see the work of leading conservationists up close (and spend the day with a wildlife veterinarian).
Surveying all of these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, I couldn’t help but think: this is more than a trend. It’s a movement. For this guide, we’ve done all the research to find some of the most mind-blowing tours out there.
