24 (More) Photobook Publishers That Accept Submissions
Welcome to part 2 of our guide to photobook publishers
“Judith Black's work is incredible, but for some reason, it went relatively unrecognized for years,” Rachel and Gregory Barker, the directors of the London-based publishing house STANLEY/BARKER tell us.
Judith Black’s photography spans decades, beginning in the 1960s, but it wasn’t until 2020 that she published her first book, Pleasant Street. A year later, she worked with STANLEY/BARKER again to produce her second book, Vacation.
Since then, Black’s work has been covered by The Guardian, The New York Times, Le Monde, and other leading international publications. She traveled internationally to book fairs and received awards. “The book was a catalyst in getting Judith's work recognized and talked about,” the Barkers reflect. “Now, she's discussing exhibitions and print sales with curators.”
Some projects are meant to be books, and the realization of those books can open unexpected opportunities for photographers. In part 2 of our guide to photobook publishers, we’re sharing another 24 publishing houses that accept submissions.
