19 International Galleries and Centers Accepting Photography Submissions
Welcome to Part 2 of our galleries guide, featuring international organizations and spaces, from Athens to Hanoi to Jerusalem. Whether you’re hoping for a solo exhibition in Berlin or London, representation with Vancouver’s oldest commercial gallery, an audience with Amsterdam’s first photography museum, or the opportunity to attend portfolio reviews and workshops to nurture your career, there’s something in here for you. You’ll find several big names–one of these galleries represents work by Patrick Demarchelier and Ellen von Unwerth, while another has exhibited Edward Burtynsky and Andreas Gursky–as well as newer, up-and-coming venues, suited to various genres and career stages.
Keep in mind that the process is different for each gallery: some welcome exhibition proposals, while others host open calls for juried group shows, and a few accept submissions through annual contests and awards.
Bau-Xi Gallery (Vancouver, Canada)
Established by Bau-Xi Huang in 1965, Bau-Xi Gallery is the oldest commercial gallery in Vancouver, representing emerging and established painters, sculptors, and photographers working in Canada and internationally. “Submissions are welcome by email only,” the gallery explains. “Images should be in JPEG or PDF format, and your email should not exceed 3MB. Please include ‘Art Submission’ in the title of your email, addressed to bauxigallery@gmail.com. We will review all submissions, but due to the volume of submissions, we are unable to reply to those who are not selected for representation.”
