Welcome to another edition of Feature Shoot’s opportunities roundup, featuring competitions, awards, and open calls closing this week. This time around, prizes include cash awards, including a few in the tens of thousands of dollars; exhibitions in New York, Rome, Hyderabad, and beyond; residencies in Kyoto and Syracuse, NY; and more. Dig in below.

BarTur Photo Award

Themes for the BarTur Photo Award include Photojournalist of the Year; Faces of Humanity; Climate Change; Unity and Diversity; and the Ann Lesley BarTur Photo Award, recognizing women in photography. “Entrants to the Award are eligible for a range of prizes, including a share of the $20,000 cash prize,” the team shares. The deadline for submissions has been extended to June 30th at 23:59 GMT, and it’s free to submit.

FRESH Annual Photography Exhibition

Presented by Klompching Gallery in New York, this exhibition is now in its eleventh edition, with five photographers to be selected for the show. Additionally, 20 photographers will be featured online and in the printed catalog. One finalist wins the Rhonda Wilson Award, while one will be offered one-year representation for their portfolio. The People's Choice Award will also recognize the work of one photographer, and one finalist will have their photograph released as a Klompching Edition. Submissions close on June 30th.

Light Work Artist-in-Residence

“Each year, Light Work invites 12-15 artists to participate in its residency program,” the non-profit shares. “Artists selected for the residency program are invited to live in Syracuse for one month. They receive a $5,000 stipend, an apartment to stay in, a private digital studio, a private darkroom, and 24-hour access to our facility. Participants in the residency program are expected to use their month to pursue their own projects: photographing in the area, scanning or printing for a specific project or book, and so on.” The deadline for applications is July 1st.
